Truck Driver Fatigue Is The Cause Of Many Truck Accidents

We Hold Drowsy Truck Drivers And Their Employers Accountable

Big rig trucks are a frequent sight on our roads and freeways and are the cause of many catastrophic and fatal accidents. When an 18-wheeler truck driver continues to drive while fatigued, he or she risks causing a serious accident through inattention, slow reaction time or falling asleep at the wheel.

At Britton Law, we aggressively pursue justice for people involved in motor vehicle accidents with semi trucks and other commercial vehicles. Our truck accident lawyers have extensive experience in dealing with these cases and know how to hold the negligent parties responsible for their actions.

We take cases statewide.

Uncovering The Evidence

Truck drivers are required to follow the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations regarding maximum driving time and mandatory rest periods:

  • Drivers may not exceed 11 consecutive hours at the wheel.
  • Drivers may not exceed 14 total hours in one shift (including breaks).
  • Drivers must take a 30-minute rest break after 8 hours (if not sooner).
  • Drivers must be off-duty for at least 10 consecutive hours of rest/sleep before resuming driving.
  • Drivers cannot exceed 60 hours within 7 consecutive days or 70 hours within 8 consecutive days.

Many truck drivers keep two sets of logs to account for their driving time, masking the fact that they were driving too long between breaks. Trucking companies may also pay by the trip as opposed to paying by the mile, encouraging risky behavior or privately requiring drivers to violate trucking regulations. We obtain driver logs, company logs, GPS data, truck stop receipts and other evidence in your case to show negligence or deceit on the part of the trucker and their employer, and we fight for fair compensation for your injuries from the trucking company involved.

Accidents involving tractor-trailers frequently cause turn catastrophic injuries and death for the occupants of the smaller vehicle. We offer reliable, compassionate service and aggressive representation for these cases.
