DOT will make over busy North Carolina road

Over time, roads deteriorate for many different reasons, including inclement weather, the weight of vehicles, accidents and other issues that affect the road surface. Roads are affected in every state in the country, including in North Carolina, where they have issues that render the roads unsafe.

On one particular road in Fayetteville, North Carolina, for example, a particular section, which is a little over two miles long, is due to receive raised medians, added turning lanes, and a brand new draining system so that flooding is less of a problem. There is also a plan to construct a concrete curb, sidewalks and gutters.

The plan is to make unsafe roads safe

Under a new project, the Department of Transportation (DOT) has been looking carefully at the state of North Carolina’s roads. Many others roads need improvements, such as traffic lights at intersections, which should help to make the streets safer for everyone. The DOT plans to complete the current project within two years.

According to the DOT, 78% of the crashes in that area of North Carolina occurred in between intersections where there was an open center lane. Statistically, that number is almost double what other, similar highways are experiencing.

Valuable legal advice

If you have experienced an accident on the road because of someone else’s negligence (such as hazardous objects on a road), it may be invaluable for you to consult an experienced North Carolina personal injury attorney, who can offer you valuable advice on how to pursue compensation that you need and that you deserve.

It is important that you understand that in an accident situation, the insurance company will not necessarily be putting your interests first so you need to protect your rights and make sure that you go after what you need. A knowledgeable personal injury attorney can help you to do that and will educate you about what to expect and exactly which steps you should follow.
