Semi accident kills one and hurts more on I-95 in North Carolina

Sometimes you’re a little exhausted at work and you’d rather not drive, but you decide to do it anyway. Maybe it’s the only way home. Maybe someone needs the car later. But what if you make a mistake?

Now imagine you drive for a living. What if you made a mistake behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer or a garbage truck on the highway? The sheer force of that mass of metal at high speed means that a collision is almost certainly going to result in severe damage or injury. Permanent disability or even death is often a result of truck accidents on the highway.

One person is dead and several people were injured in a chain reaction of accidents that apparently started with a large truck. A semi was driving north on a stretch of Interstate 95 outside Benson when it crossed the median into opposing traffic and hit a car head-on.

The trailer then swung around in a jackknife and struck several other vehicles on the highway. Local officials said at least seven people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries, and three of them were in critical condition. The accident is still under investigation.

Victims of accidents like this may have a long road of recovery ahead, and that comes with expenses. Although it is impossible to put a price on such things, the emotional distress involved may also be worth compensation.

An attorney can help resolve these issues if they arise for a victim or the family of one. Legal representation makes lawsuits like these far easier to commence and continue.
