Car accidents increase throughout North Carolina

If it seems like traffic has gotten worse this past year, you would be right. A new report from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles shows that motor vehicle accidents increased last year throughout the state.

How much worse have traffic accidents gotten during the last year? According to the report, there were more than 6,000 accidents compared to the previous year. That is quite a significant increase for one year, and the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is looking for what led to the increase.

Several different factors contributed to car accidents in the last year. The report said that speeding contributed to 34 percent of fatal car accidents, and distracted driving contributed to 22 percent of car accident deaths.

The NCDOT reported that the population in North Carolina increased last year, meaning that there were more drivers on the road. This is also another reason why traffic accidents increased last year, according to the NCDOT.

Drivers should be aware of the risks they face on the road, especially since traffic accidents have increased. All drivers need to take steps to stay safe behind the wheel. This includes preventing distractions like not using your cellphone, following the posted speed limit and focusing on the road.

If you have been injured in accident, it is important to recognize that you have rights. The driver responsible for your injuries may be held liable, and you may be able to receive compensation for your injuries and lost wages.

Working with a personal injury attorney can help protect your rights and make sure all options are explored.
