If it seems like traffic has gotten worse this past year, you would be right. A new report from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles shows that motor vehicle accidents increased last year throughout the state.
How much worse have traffic accidents gotten during the last year? According to the report, there were more than 6,000 accidents compared to the previous year. Several different factors contributed to car accidents in the last year. The report said that speeding contributed to 34 percent of fatal car accidents, and distracted driving contributed to 22 percent of car accident deaths.
The NCDOT reported that the population in North Carolina increased last year, meaning that there were more drivers on the road. This is also another reason why traffic accidents increased last year, according to the NCDOT.
