On Nov. 29, a five-car crash in North Carolina resulted in the death of two people. The fatal collision took place in High Point at around 9:10 a.m. Shortly before the crash happened, multiple witnesses dialed 911 to report that they had seen a white SUV traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Wendover Avenue near Penny Road.
The 44-year-old man who was driving the white SUV towards oncoming traffic was among the deceased. He was pronounced dead at the scene after striking four other vehicles. A 73-year-old High Point resident who was involved in the crash was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital. Police confirmed that two other drivers were also injured in the accident. A total of two cars and three SUVs were caught up in the wreck.
While the initial investigation into the fatal accident was underway, authorities were forced to shut down a section of Wendover Avenue for over five fours. Investigators obtained some of their evidence from aerial photographs of the crash scene that were taken by a Highway Patrol helicopter. According to police involved in the investigation, excessive speed was a contributing factor in the collision.
A family that has lost a loved one in a car accident might have the right to pursue some monetary compensation for their loss by taking the at-fault driver to court. If the liable party was among those killed in the wreck, family members of a deceased victim could choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against that person’s estate.
