On Sept. 2, a Mills River man was killed in a three-car accident on Boylston Highway. According to North Carolina Highway Patrol troopers, a pickup truck crossed over the center line of the highway, crashing into the victim’s vehicle head-on near Mills River. Following that head-on collision, another car hit him from behind.
According to troopers, the initial head-on crash was the cause of a three-car chain reaction collision, which occurred around 6 p.m. The pickup truck that allegedly caused the accident went off the side of the highway and then rolled. Investigators said that the driver of that vehicle did not suffer any serious injuries.
Troopers are investigating the accident, and Boylston Highway was closed down in that area during that time. Charges are pending against the alleged responsible party, according to the highway patrol.
