At this time of the year, motorcyclists find it difficult to deny the call of the road when the weather permits. Because of that, it is especially important for other drivers to exhibit more caution when they are traveling. A recent incident in North Carolina further illustrates the importance of diligent drivers. Unfortunately, a motorcyclist lost his life leaving the potential for a wrongful death case filed by his family.

The incident occurred in the evening in late June. The motorcyclist was traveling toward a sedan whose driver was attempting to make a left turn. Because the driver allegedly failed to yield the right of way, she made contact with the motorcyclist according to police reports.

The motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital. However, he ultimately died from the injuries he received in the accident. The driver of the sedan, a 23-year-old female, now faces criminal charges for her alleged involvement in the incident.

Unexpected deaths such as this cause financial burdens that most families are unprepared to cope with. In addition to medical bills, the victim’s family must also deal with the expense of putting their loved one to rest. All of these burdens are in addition to dealing with the loss of the deceased’s income. Even though they are likely overcome with grief at the moment, they will soon have to face the uncertainty of their financial future; in order to receive compensation for the financial burdens this tragic accident has placed on them, the family could consider filing a wrongful death case in a North Carolina civil court. If the court rules that negligence on behalf of their driver of the sedan caused the death, the family could receive a financial reward to compensate them for the costs incurred as a result of the accident.
