In a single, short moment, the lives of people and entire families can be changed forever. Tiny, seemingly inconsequential decisions — such as briefly turning our attention from driving — could have devastating consequences. It was most likely a normal, run-of-the-mill day for several North Carolina people when an accident changed the course of their lives. After an accident involving four vehicles that could potentially lead to a wrongful death case, one family will have to learn to cope with life without their loved one.
The accident occurred in early May in the afternoon. A man driving on a North Carolina highway was unable to maintain control of his vehicle, causing him to crash into a concrete divider in the road. Debris from the collision caused damage to a second vehicle. After the initial collision, the first vehicle bounced off the divider and hit a third vehicle head on, killing the driver.
The first vehicle then rolled on top of a fourth vehicle. No other injuries or fatalities were reported. It is unknown of the man who lost control has been charged as a result of the accident.
The family of the deceased man will most likely face a difficult time as they adjust to life without their loved one. While their emotional scars may take a long time to heal, stress over the financial implications of his death can be alleviated by filing a wrongful death case in a North Carolina court. Such a suit could provide compensation for funeral expenses and loss of income. While it won’t alleviate the grief over his death, it could help the family face an uncertain financial future.
