As the temperature increases, so does the need to exercise additional caution while on the road as more and more motorcyclists pull their bikes out of storage and hit the road. In order to preserve the safety of everyone, extra vigilance is needed. Unfortunately, a wrongful death case could be on the horizon after a man on a motorcycle was killed in Fayetteville.
A 53-year-old woman was traveling in a sedan in the opposite direction of a 26-year-old man on a local roadway. The woman allegedly attempted to make a left turn in front of the motorcycle, causing him to crash into her car. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to a hospital in Fayetteville.
Unfortunately, the man later died from his injuries. No injuries were reported for the woman. The woman has since been charged with a misdemeanor related to the man’s death.
The desolation this man’s family is likely experiencing is immeasurable. Their loved one was tragically ripped from their lives without warning. In addition to their grief, the family most likely faces medical bills related to his short time in the hospital as well as the unexpected cost of a funeral and other final expenses. A successfully litigated wrongful death case could go a long way toward alleviating the financial burdens of the loss of a loved one if a civil court determines that the women’s negligence caused to accident. While a financial award cannot make up for the loss, it could help relieve an unnecessary stressor from their lives as they grieve.
