Over the weekend, a fatal accident in North Carolina claimed the life of a young child. Sadly, it is believed that the child’s older sibling was responsible for the fatal wreck.
Although police are still investigating the car accident and have not disclosed many details about the wreck, some reports have stated that the child’s 15-year-old sibling was speeding and being chased by police when the crash occurred.
The older sibling should not have been behind the wheel, but some have questioned whether the police chase was necessary or whether police could have prevented the fatal crash in any way. According to reports, the victim of the fatal car accident was a 9-year-old boy.
The tragic accident occurred in Mount Airy over the weekend. According to police, a vehicle was spotted speeding by an officer on U.S. 52. The officer then attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver of the alleged speeding vehicle did not pull over on the side of the road. The officer pursued the speeding vehicle, and the driver lost control and crashed the vehicle.
After the driver lost control of the vehicle on the road, the vehicle hit a tree and then crashed into a nearby river. The driver survived the accident, but the 9-year-old passenger did not.
Many questions regarding the fatal crash have yet to be answered. One thing that is certain is that the driver clearly did not have a valid driver’s license.
This accident has resulted in some very serious and heartbreaking consequences. Not only did a family lose a child, but the sibling who allegedly caused the crash most likely never imagined that his or her actions would have resulted in a fatal accident.
These types of accidents often result in other devastating consequences for victims and families. In accidents like this one, victims’ families often find it challenging to recover compensation for their losses when a loved one is killed by an uninsured, underinsured or an unlicensed driver.
