The family of a soldier is mourning his recent death. He died in a motorcycle accident in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The soldier, who was stationed at Fort Bragg, had previously completed three deployments to Afghanistan.
According to Fayetteville police, the wreck occurred last week at the intersection of Cliffdale and Jennings Farm roads, when the 29-year-old man riding the motorcycle crashed into a sport utility vehicle. The accident was apparently due to the driver of the SUV not yielding the right of way to the motorcyclist.
The unit supply specialist with Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division, was a highly decorated paratrooper who was loved by friends and family alike. Those that knew the soldier are likely reeling at the news of his sudden, untimely death. In addition to dealing with their grief at the loss, in many situations like this, the family left behind is thrown into a financial tailspin.
Though there is sadly nothing that can be done to undo the tragic accident that claimed the man’s life, his family may decide to take legal action against the driver of the SUV involved in the incident. Successful wrongful death lawsuits can provide the financial resources necessary for a family to continue on with their lives when a wage-earner is taken too soon.
While these financial damages will of course never take the place of the person who has died, providing hugs and the emotional support a human being does, in many cases it helps provide the closure needed to move forward.
