Did you know that smoke alarms expire after 10 years? Working smoke alarms reduce the chances of dying in a fire by nearly 50 percent. They are critical for staying safe from a fire, but in order to be effective, they have to be working properly. Check batteries in smoke detectors monthly and if your smoke alarm is more than 10 years old, it’s time to install a new one.
