Britton Law Radio Spot: Slow Down in those School Zones

Drive smart – be safe.
When you enter that school zone in on the way to work SLOW DOWN.

School zone speed limits are there to protect children. That extra 10 miles per hour in the school zone greatly increases the chance of death for a student hit by a car. The chance of death increases 9-fold with an increase in speed from 20 mph to 30 mph. North Carolina has gotten tougher on school zone speeders – they now get hit with a $250 fine plus court costs and if you think that’s expensive, wait until they get their insurance bill…

So obeying the posted school zone speed limit saves your wallet and, even more important, can save a life.
