Our Community Service

Britton Law, has been able to serve many individuals and businesses in Fayetteville and beyond for many years through various acts of community service. In the effort to give back to the community that has given our firm so much, the attorneys and staff at Britton Law devote and have devoted time and effort to a number of worthy organizations, including the following:

North Carolina Mock Trial Program
(formerly Carolina Center for Civic Education), which organizes and operates the North Carolina Advocates for Justice High School Mock Trial competition.

  • Rebecca serves as the President (as of 2018) and Regional Coordinator for the Fayetteville competition site.
  • Rebecca was formerly the Vice President, Treasurer, and served on the Board of Directors for the National High School Mock Trial Championship.
  • John is a volunteer juror for the regional competition in Fayetteville.
  • Karen Kueny and Tanja Shurling, paralegals, are the Site Coordinators for the Fayetteville competition site.
  • Kelly Eckhardt, legal assistant, volunteered for the National championship.
  • And all of the staff at Britton Law volunteer for Regional competitions.
  • Britton Law is the proud sponsor of the Fayetteville Regional Competition.
  • Britton Law was a “Justice League” sponsor of the National High School Mock Trial Championship Competition held in Raleigh in May, 2015. Rebecca also served on the Advisory and Steering Committees for this event.

Up & Coming Weekly Magazine

  • Rebecca is contributing an article monthly to the publication throughout 2020.

North Carolina Bar Association

  • Rebecca has served on the Law Related Education Committee, and she was Trichair for 4-All State Wide Service Day in 2009. She’s also been serving on the Access to Justice Council since 2012.
  • John served for three years on the Law Practice Management Council, and then served as Secretary for the final year of his term.

Cumberland County Bar Association

Each year, Britton Law Attorneys participate in the Law Day Service Project.

  • John volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.
  • Rebecca speaks to students at local schools about various topics.

Alzheimer’s Association

  • Karen Kueny, paralegal, is actively involved in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Fayetteville, raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer research care and support.

American Indian Education

  • Karen Kueny, paralegal, serves as Chairman of the Parent Committee for Cumberland County Schools and is also a member of the NC State Advisory Council on Indian Education.

Cape Fear Regional Theatre

  • The firm is a sponsor and supporter.

Cumberland Oratorio Singers

  • Rebecca provides pro bono legal services.
  • The firm is a sponsor and supporter.

Fayetteville Arts Council

  • The firm provides pro bono legal counsel.

Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina

  • Karen Kueny, paralegal, is a former Chief Judge of the Administrative Court for the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina.

Methodist University

  • Rebecca serves on the Board of Advisors for the Legal Studies Program , and she is also a guest lecturer for various events and classes that are a part of the Legal Studies Program.

Indigo Moon Film Festival

  • The firm sponsors the event annually since it’s inception in 2016.
